Remix Dance Academy is seeking energetic and motivated dance instructors to teach HIP HOP dance classes. These will be recreational and/or competitive classes taught from September 2018 - May 2019.
The recreational classes are taught one choreography (created by the teacher - you!) in the fall and another in the winter, which students perform at the end of the year show in May. The competitive classes learn one choreography for the year, which will be performed at the end of the year show, along with selected competitions in March, April and May.

Minimum qualifications:
- Available to teach September 2018 - May 2019
- At least 15 years of age with a valid SIN #
- At least 1 year of dancing experience at an advanced level
- Open to Remix requesting a criminal police check
- Available to work evenings and/or weekends in at least one of our locations
- A genuine interest in teaching HIP HOP
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset
Duties include:
- Select and plan class content from warm-ups and cool downs, to choreography and dance techniques/concepts
- Build choreography for all dance pieces taught to your assigned dance classes using the music mixes provided by the Dance Director
- Assist Dance Director with instructor tasks at workshops, practices & performances
- Provide and relay information between the Dance Director and the parents/students
- Attend periodic staff meetings
Hourly wage:
- $14 to $25 depending on skill and experience. Transportation costs are covered by Remix in situations where driving distances exceed 10km one-way
Experience required:
- Dance experience is necessary.
- Teaching experience is NOT necessary; we will train you.
Selection process:
All applications will be reviewed and evaluated on the basis of related experience and overall quality of the application. Selected applicants will be invited to an interview where the following skills will be assessed:
- Ability to dance, teach and perform
- Ability to teach groups that may be small or large in number
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to demonstrate basic to intermediate HIP HOP steps
- Understanding of good physical health practices
- Patience and respect
- Oral communication
- Attention to detail
- Positive attitude and encouragement
- Interpersonal skills
- Applicants with HIP HOP dance teaching experience may be given priority
Training:
Successful candidates will be invited to take the Remix Instructor Certification Training Program given by the Dance Director. Successful completion of this certification is required to become a Remix Dance Instructor.
Available locations:
You will be able to choose which locations and classes are most suitable for you. Our classes are offered in Orleans, Embrun, Rockland and Hawkesbury.
